| The Calcium Solution For
Potato Crops |
| LIG-CALCIUM
+ BORON |
| Calcium and boron are
critical nutrients for potato quality and a deficiency
of these nutrients reduces skin quality (flakey skin)
and storage life of tubers. Water management is critical
in calcium nutrition as the most common cause of calcium
deficiency is moisture stress. High plant nitrogen levels
also promote the problem. When a plant is under moisture
stress, calcium uptake is reduced and water movement and
calcium transport to tubers is also restricted. Calcium
and boron deficiency also weaken cell walls and make tubers
more susceptible to disease. The very low plant mobility
of calcium and its preference for new shoots means that
tissue analysis is usually a poor indicator of tuber calcium
status. |
| THE ADVANTAGES OF
LIG-CALCIUM + BORON |
|
- high plant availability of calcium & boron
- rapid leaf uptake & plant utilization
- chelated boron ensures no burning
- inclusion of boron improves calcium uptake & movement
- will not wash off leaves under high volumes of irrigation
- prevents flakey skins and poor skin colour
- increased firmness and storage life of tubers
- contains no chloride & low levels of nitrogen
- compatible with fungicides & insecticides
- Australian made
|
| APPLICATION |
| Potatoes - 2-3 sprays
@ 7.5 L/Ha commencing two weeks before flowering and repeated
at 2-3 week intervals. For high risk crops increase application
rate to 10 L/Ha. |

| The Magnesium Solution For
Potato Crops |
| LIG-MAGNESIUM |
| Magnesium deficiency
is common in potato crops, especially those grown in acidic
sandy soils. The classic yellow chlorosis of leaf margins
is easily identified on the older leaves and foliar application
of magnesium is quite effective for correcting deficiencies.
Magnesium is essential for photosynthesis and plant growth
and also increases the starch content and specific gravity
of tubers. High levels of ammonium nitrogen and potassium
in the soil reduces magnesium uptake, as does moisture
stress and stop/start growing conditions. Because magnesium,
like potassium is readily translocated to young leaves,
excessive nitrogen application and plant vigour will reduce
the magnesium content of tubers and therefore adversely
effect tuber quality and yields. |
| THE ADVANTAGES OF
LIG-MAGNESIUM |
|
- high plant availability through leaf
- rapid uptake & plant utilization
- encourages root growth
- maximizes photosynthesis & starch production
- improves specific gravity & yields
- small particle size & binder improves canopy penetration
- compatible with fungicides & insecticides
- Australian made product
|
| APPLICATION |
| Potatoes - 1-2 sprays
@ 10 L/Ha prior to tuber set and again after flowering
if required. For enhanced colour of red potatoes include
5L/ha LIG - IRON with 2 magnesium sprays. |

| The Potassium Solution For
Potatoes |
| LIG-K + BORON |
| Potassium and boron
are most important for potato quality and tonnage. Potassium
produces sugars and starch that not only increase the
specific gravity of tubers but also fill and increase
tuber size. If a potato crop has two or three sets of
tubers, potassium helps size the smaller tubers and therefore
improves pack-out. Boron increases the translocation of
sugars to developing tubers, calcium uptake and movement,
and improves the skin strength and disease resistance
of tomatoes. Balanced nutrition is the key to improving
quality without compromising yield, and both potassium
and boron are extremely important nutrients in this respect. |
| THE ADVANTAGES OF
LIG-K + BORON |
|
- high plant availability of potassium through leaf
- rapid leaf uptake & translocation to developing tubers
- chelated boron is very safe
- fills tubers and increases yields
- improves pack-out
- binds to leaves even under heavy irrigation
- improves skin strength & tuber quality
- compatible with fungicides & insecticides
- Australian made product
|
| APPLICATION |
| Potatoes - 3 sprays
@ 10 L/Ha. First application prior to tuber set and two
sprays after flowering about 3-4 weeks apart. |

| The Trace Element Solution
For Potatoes |
| LIG-BALANCE |
| Maintaining adequate
levels of all essential nutrients is important because
healthy plants have a greater disease tolerance and cope
much better with adverse growing conditions that can significantly
reduce yield and quality. Hidden trace element deficiencies
(no visual symptoms) can reduce yields by 50%. The broad
range of elements in LIG-BALANCE is good insurance against
hidden deficiencies. Deficiencies can often be induced
by: the correction of one or more deficient nutrients;
increases in plant available nitrogen; rapid shoot growth;
and optimum levels of major (N, P, K) and secondary (S,
Mg) nutrients |
| THE ADVANTAGES OF
LIG-BALANCE |
|
- high plant availability through leaf
- rapid uptake & plant utilization
- supplies essential trace elements plus sulphur & magnesium
- maximizes photosynthesis & plant growth
- improves potato quality & yield
- binding properties allows early application
- compatible with fungicides & insecticides
- Australian made product
|
| APPLICATION |
| Potatoes - 2-4 sprays
@ 2 L/Ha commencing when plants are 10 cm tall. To further
improve early growth include Vigor-Lig Plus @ 2 L/Ha |

| The Zinc Solution For Potato
Crops |
| LIG-ZINC + MANGANESE
|
| Potatoes have a large
zinc requirement and deficiencies are common on alkaline
and sandy soils. Zinc is essential for tuber set, so therefore
early application is important. Low zinc at tuber initiation
causes uneven tuber set (multiple sets of tubers), a reduction
in the number of tubers and a poor pack-out at harvest.
In quick growing potato crops such as those at Pinnaroo,
SA, unless zinc can be applied early and utilized quickly
by the plant, its effectiveness will be limited. Zinc
is also required for photosynthesis and root and shoot
growth. Zinc produces plant hormones (auxins) that restrict
plant vigour during reproduction, however high levels
of plant nitrogen at this time inhibit the production
of these hormones and therefore reduce yields. |
| THE ADVANTAGES OF
LIG-ZINC + MANGANESE |
|
- high plant availability through leaf or dripper
- rapid leaf uptake & plant utilization
- chelated zinc ensures no burning & allows early application
- enhances photosynthesis & early growth of plants
- binds to leaves even under heavy irrigation
-more even tuber set & better pack-out at harvest
- increases the number of tubers & yields
- compatible with LIG-IRON & fungicides & insecticides
- cost effective Australian made product
|
| APPLICATION |
| Australia 2-4 @ 4 L/Ha
for a severe deficiency. First application 14 days after
emergence or when plants are 10 cm tall. Repeat 14 days
later. With severe deficiencies apply to seed @ 4 L/Ha
and at emergence @ 4 L/Ha. . |
